/soft laser peel
Soft peel is a highly effective non-ablative dermal remodeling treatment that stimulates collagen and exfoliates the epidermis, leaving skin softer and more even-toned. Indicated for hyper-pigmentation, age spots, uneven skin texture, blemishes, acne scars, and fine lines and wrinkles.
An extremely successful procedure for replacing damaged skin with new, fresh skin. The process is also known as laser peel or skin resurfacing and is beneficial for reducing fine lines in the areas around the mouth, forehead, and eyes. This procedure can also be useful for treating acne scars or areas with brown spots, uneven pigmentation.
while results are predictable and noticeable after just one peel, dramatic results are seen after a series of peels.
/SpectraPeel™
SpectraPeel™ is one of the most effective and innovative non-ablative skin resurfacing procedures available today. This two-step thermal rejuvenation process delivers the benefits of other much more aggressive procedures without the discomfort and downtime commonly associated with AHA/TCA chemical peels, ablative laser treatments, and other skin rejuvenation treatments. It dramatically improves the appearance of acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, crows feet, age spots and uneven skin texture. It also benefits those with oily skin, blackheads, whiteheads, ingrown hair, blemishes and pigmentation.

/soft/SpectraPeel™ faq
How do Soft Laser Peel and SpectraPeel™ work?
Soft Laser Peel and SpectraPeel both induce superficial peeling as a result of photomechanical action and the removal of excessive sebum, exfoliate the upper layer of skin and unplug the pores. First, carbon or graphite particles are penetrated into the pores. Next the energy from the Lutronic Spectra VRM laser is absorbed by the skin and explodes the carbon or graphite particles. This process causes the inner walls of the pores to reduce in size by way of stimulation and mechanical damage. The subsequent dermal remodelling effect in Q-switched mode promotes regeneration of collagen and recovers elasticity in the skin.
How many treatments are required?
In most cases, 3-5 treatments will be required for optimum and long lasting results. Treatments can be scheduled at 2-3 week intervals and may be alternated with SkinMedica's Vitalize or Rejuvenize Peel to optimize results. Return check-ups will be scheduled to monitor and maintain results.
What kind of risks are involved?
SpectraPeel™ is a safe treatment that is performed on thousands of men and women each year with no major complications. Redness and swelling are common and can last anywhere from 2-48 hours after treatement. The Soft Peel is a gentler treatment than SpectraPeel. It is recommended that you consult your provider regarding any concersn that you may have.
What is the difference between Soft Laser Peel and SpectraPeel?
Soft Laser Peel is a one-step skin rejuvenation procedure, while the SpectraPeel™ is a two-step process. SpectraPeel™ delivers more heat into the skin, resulting in increased redness, more agressive treatment, and more dramatic results.
What are the recommended Pre and Post Care instructions?
Before treatment, is highly recommended that patients use a chemical exfoliant (Glycolic acid, Retin-A) for at least two weeks. These are available at Laser SkinCare.Do not wax 1 week prior to treatment or shave the day of treatment. Patients with a history of cold sores/herpes simplex must be pre-treated with a prophylactic antiviral medication prior to treatment. Avoid sunbeds or sun exposure prior to treatment. Sunscreen with Zinc Oxide 5% or more should be used as least 2 weeks prior to treatment. Makeup should be avoided on the area to be treated for 4 hours prior to treatment if possible. All medications must be checked for photosenstivity.Following treatment, avoid sun exposure and apply a sunscreen containing at least 5% zinc one hour before going outdoors for at least two weeks. Pure aloe vera gel and cold compresses may be used for comfort and swelling. After 4 hours the skin may be cleansed with a gentle cleanser that is non-abrasive with out artificial fragrance, detergents, color or oils. Moisturize daily with a non-comodogenic moisturizer. Avoid the use of glycolic, retinols and toners for 5-7 days.
When dermal or epidermal lesions have been treated, patients are advised to avoid peeling off or damaging any scabbing that may occur and to let the scab fall off naturally. An antibiotic cream can be applied to the lesion until the crust falls off.
How can SpectraPeel ™ control acne?
The dual mechanism of a photothermal effect and photochemical peeling controls the inflammation of acne, reduces sebum production and normalizes epithelial proliferation.
How many treatments are required?
Sebum, nodular and cystic lesions begin to reduce in size after the 1st treatment with SpectraPeel ™ . After 3 or more treatments within a 2-3 week period you can expect dramatically improved results. Once inflamed acne lesions have been treated, red spot and acne counts should be noticeably reduced.
How long will the clinical results last?
While laser treatments are considered to be long lasting, they are not permanent. To maintain clinical results and your improved skin condition, follow-up treatments at regular intervals (every 2-3 months) are recommended. Carefully follow your technician's instruction on skin care and avoid excessive exposure to the sun.
How much improvement can I expect?
You can expect visible improvements after the first treatment and continuous improvement after each subsequent treatment. Active acne will be considerably reduced. People with both acne and/or severe sun damaged skin, actinic keratoses, poor skin texture or uneven pigmentation will also see excellent results. SpectraPeel™ improves the appearance of large pores and some acne scars.
How do other laser treatments compare to Soft or SpectraPeel ™ ?
Unlike other laser procedures, Soft and SpectraPeel™ are virtually painless and require no downtime. The treatments offer a greater margin of safety than any other laser facial rejuvenation with predictable and consistent results.
